302 miniram?
302 miniram?
i'm thinking of dripping in a 302 miniram into my 86 iroc. i've started to port and siamese my intake, so it should be between a tpi and a miniram. I was wondering if any had any suggestions or ideas.
1986 Iroc:
accel super stock wires
accel HEI super coil
B&M shift kit
ADS super chip
gutted airbox
MAF screens removed
upgrades in progress:

crane cam
fuel pressure regulator

Miniram usually requires lots of cubic inches, like 350 or better.

Correct me if I'm wrong but 302 produce HP in high RPM. Miniram are for low rpm HP. I'm not sure this setup would not work fine since the motor is made to run a carb unit.

Actually miniram is for higher RPM operation. The medium-sized short runners are optimized for this as opposed to the small-sized long runners which are tuned for low-RPM operation.

If I had a 302 and was going to spend that kind of money on a fuel injection system for it, I believe I'd put the Accel ProRam on it... looks like an altogether better match to a 302. I've worked with one of those on a 434 before, it's really sweet.

if you have a real 302 (dz or cn i think) i'd sell it to someone that needed a 302 for a Z/28 and buy a bigger inch engine.

you can make a 302 with a small journal 327 block and small journal 283 crank. Or with a single piece rear main seal 350 block and a L99(265cid 4.3L v8) crank. The L99 was the baby LT1 put in the Caprice. Use the long L99 rods with LT1/LT4 pistons.

I think with the Mini Ram`s high RPM horsepower capabilities, and the 302`s as well, i cant think of any reason this wouldnt be a good idea.
