engine help

ok so i was considering a 383 stroker or a 400 sbc for an engine build but im on a budget build
i have access to all sorts of parts mainlycast and some forged..
i have to keep in m ind im trying to build something with cast heads.. a stock block.. and maybe a budget rotating assembly.. other things i can spend a little more cash on but trying to keep it cheap..
first off what hp estimates can i get out of a 400 sbc bored 60 over.. with cast crank refurbished rods and hyper pistons.. and idk what heads i can run on those..
im also new at this.. i mean parts wise.. i know how to put them together and take them apart.. but idk what will match up with what.. will 882 heads fit on my 400 sbc?

and what all can i take off a 350 to bolt onto a 400?

882's were the stock heads on a bunch of 400's. They are also about the worst head imaginable for a performance build.

Most SBC heads will fit a 400, you just need to drill the steam holes. 2.02/1.60" valves should be considered since you've got plenty of room with the large cylinder bore.

0.060"-over factory casting 400's are usually thin-walled. Better have the block sonic checked before you have it bored to make sure it can take that over-bore. Since boring is a clean-up operation to provide a good sealing surface for the rings and is not a performance-enhancer via more displacement, don't bore the block any more than is needed for good ring sealing. Even then, a street fill of Hard Blok is still a good idea if you're going to be making healthy power.
