rear end

i have a 91 RS 305tbi and plan on dropping in a SBC 400(probably bored to 406) with comp cams, nice heads, headers and all the goodies.....with all this new horse power and torque i know my stock rear end will snap like a twig. is there any thing i can do to build up my rear end in a cheap way b/c money is an issue.

A good 9 bolt will probably work fine and it's about 1/2 the price of a 9 inch or 12 bolt.

Currently installing 3.73's into my 9 bolt (YES, it is a 9 bolt & YES they are 3.73's, not 3.70. I currently have 4.10 gear sets and new series 3 carriers in stock for 9 bolts )

things you can do are (givin its the 7.5 10 bolt, i dont think you can even get any of the folowing parts for a 9 bolt) get some moser or strange axles (about 250$) mabey and auburn or eaton posi (400$ or so) and some gears are another 150 or so so to deck out that axle your in the 800$ range and a nice 12 bolt is around 1,100 or so, but if your not going to be running slicks the axle you have now should be allright.

Maybe you should do some research before saying things like that. Then you will realize that aftermarket axles, gear sets to 4.10 ratios and new posi carriers ARE available for the 9 bolt.

so to deck out that axle your in the 800$ range and a nice 12 bolt is around 1,100 or so
If you can get a complete bolt in ready to roll (brakes and all) for $1100, I'll take two right now! A complete 12 bolt or 9 inch will be double that.
