help, the new 355 has some BAD BUGS!
ok, heres the deal, this is my first swap, and my dad's first with a computer. It runs, the timing is 6 deg. btdc, it is a tbi with 55# injectors that we took apart, cleaned and reassempled with new gaskets and such, it runs between 220 and 240 almost all the time, which is wierd because we had the radiator rebuilt, put on a 160 degree thermostat, used a milodon high volume water pump, and a 2950 cfm electric fan, which is mounted 1/2" from the radiator. It also feels like it is under a heavy load, and it won't rev. I floored it at a 4 way stop, and instead of revving, it accelerated like I was driving like a granny. it spits, pops, and backfires about 30% of the time, under load at about 1600 rpms. it also bucks and drives wierd at low speeds. If it had a carb, I would say that it was a carburation problem. maybe it's timing. it was even worse when we had it advanced 4 degrees. it is also using a TON of gas. In neutral it revs fine, no hesitation, no pissing or moaning at all. the chip was burned by jet, and is for 58# injectors, because thats what we thought we were getting. any ideas?

Hey, not this is for sure what it could be, but your problem sounds familiar. When I took my bird out of storage last winter I drove it home (about 12 miles) after I tried to go somewhere after that it did the same thing your's is. For me it was a problem with the fuel pressure and fuel lines. I took the fule lines apart and replaced them with new ones, replaced the regulator and ran a completely new tank of 93 octane through it. It got a little better, so I kept filling it with premium and fuel injection cleaner. After about four tanks of gas I got through it. Could be something totally different, but just thought I'd let ya know. Check all your fuel equipment. Hope this helps.
no clue, my only suggestion would be to swap in the original chip, and see what happens. It is possible that the 58# injectors have a different resistance, and the computer has NO IDEA what is going on. If you replace the chip and the problem goes away, then call the producer of the chip and ask them if using different injectors would solve the problem. if it does not go away then i have NO idea! let me know how you make out!
