What would you guys do, and why?
I've currently got a 305 tbi with 140,000 miles on it.. This summer, I think i'm going to buy a new engine for it. I am thinking of 2 options for this. Keep in mind, this needs to pass a sniffer test (MO emmissions)...
option 1: New ZZ4 and use my TBI intake setup, get a custom burned chip, and maybe a 670cfm TBI unit along with matching injectors..
option 2: used L98, rebuild it, stroke it to 383, and put some net intake parts on (maybe a superram).. I'd need a new computer and all that, plus fuel delivery would have to be changed too i think..
I think both options would get me where I want to be: low 13's on a daily driver..Eventually.. Seems like option 1 would be the easiest...
What do you guys think? Or do you have any other ideas to fit my needs (no building up the 305, it's not going to happen)..?

I had to make the same choice about 6 months ago. I went with the 350 HO with vortec heads and put a carb on. This combo would be cheaper than a TBI'd ZZ4 and should get me into the 13's. You might not be able to do this, though, depending on how strict your smog laws are.
If you only want to be in the 13's, option 1 would be the cheapest and easiest. Option 2, however, with a head and cam change, would probably get you into the 11's.

I recently replaced my TBI 305 (5 Speed RS) motor with a 350.I also have pretty strict smog laws to pass (CA).
The ZZ motor is going to be tough to feed with a TBI,even a big one!The TPI stroker option will cost you a lot more money, but there's a lot more performance goodies available for the TPI motors, and it would be able to deliver enough fuel, with aftermarket injectors, even supercharged. This setup will probably never pass smog, though!
I ended up buying a 300HP crate motor with a Crane Compucam for TBI.I used the Edelbrock Performer TBI Intake,Turbo City Ported Throttle body and Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator,SLP Headers,3" Cat,Flowmaster 3" Cat-Back Exhaust, and a custom chip from Ed Wright at Fastchip.Very happy with the combination so far.
I decided to go this way for a few reasons:
1)didn't have to change any wiring harnesses.
2)liked the reliability of the TBI setup, original motor was at 225,000 miles and still running good when I swapped it out!
3)passes smog in California!
4)car is set up to handle,if I need to feel scary acceleration, I have a 1970 SS396 Nova at home that runs low 11's and is smog exempt.
The extra 130 horses (over the stock 305) really changed the whole personality of the car. It's still very reliable and really surprises all the Mustang guys that think all RS's are V6 cars.
Hope This helps,

I like the TPI option also. Definatly more money, but if you want low 13's I think it's worth it. There are a lot more availabe mods for TPI systems. I bought a GM Goodwrench 350 a month ago and topped it with an Edelbrock intake and carb... all computer stuff is gone. I predict mid-14's with stock exhaust, suspension, and rear. All will be updated soon though and I hope to be in the 13's as well.
Hey Fire-Audio, you live in St. Charles? So do I E-mail me I'd love to check out your ride and I don't know any other members around here. I've probubly seen you, maybe at MAR?
