2.5 motor

A neighbor seized his motor on his Chevy S-10 pickup. My question is will any 2.5-liter motor from a junkyard work on his 1990 S-10? We've seen allot of front Chevy/Pontiac cars with 2.5 motors at the junkyards but they are all front wheel drive cars. Will it bolt right up since his is a 5 speed? I say yes but need your opinion.

If you happen to find a 2.5 f-body, the engine would work.

Oh, and grab the axle, too; if that 2.5 f-car has an automatic, it's also got a 3.73/open/drum axle behind it.
