'04 gto power steereing pump in '91 bird?
any one know if the '04 gto p/s pump will work in my '91 formula LS1 swap w/ stock '91 steering?
when it started the first time it made noise for a bit & I added more fluid, then the 1st time I drove it I noticed the pulley has a slight wobble & the pump made all kinds of loud noises, chattering & squeeking, like bad bearings maybe that got real loud when you touch the wheel & steering was hard, choppy feeling then i added the lucas p/s stuff & it cleared right up for a while & now it just sqeeks real bad all the time but steering is still good for the most part.
is this a pressure issue or bad /wrong pump or what? I was told that some of the other fbody pumps might work beter, 2000 camero & maybe others?
any one have any info on this? also if any one has a good pump for sale i'm in the market!

Re: '04 gto power steereing pump in '91 bird?
i have a new thought on this subj. i was just out back brainstormin this prob & I asked myself, why couldnt ya just fig. out a way to run the old style '91 fbird p/s pump, now i know its not as good of a pump but its a beter fit w/ the rest of the stock '91 p/s system, right? & the motor doesnt "know" what p/s pump its running, as long as everything is in-line with the belt & since I am a machinist i can whip up a nice little adapter bracket easy(I made all the other brackets i needed for this conversion, (atlrntr, throtle cbl. belt tentioner & so on) so why not a p/s pump brkt.
& I responded to me w/ that old shiteatn grin & said HELLYA BITCHES! DOITUP!
so I guess i'll hafta let ya know how it works when i geterdun!
in the mean time please feel free to interject your thoughts, facts, ideas &/or feelings on the matter.

The GTO pump is very similar to the LS1 fbody pump. You're describing a bad/empty pump sound. A wobbly pulley sounds like impact damage
Use the Fbody unit and 4th gen high pressure hose. 3rd gen low pressure hose fits best on that side
I cant remember exactly, but I think the GTO uses different mounting brackets than the Fbody pump. Good thing they're cheap (<$20)
