2.8 to 350 swap
ok here is my first post, yeah, a virgin. Im currently caught up in Camaro hell!! Ive made the swap, Pulled the 2.8, bought the new 700r4, moved the motor mounts.put in the 350 balanced crank, double hump heads, steel cam 600 edelbrock carb. performer manifold. Shorty headers.
After MUCH work and many trips to the parts store and jy and bank $$$$ it is all hooked up and ready for wiring. NOW WHAT...will I have to remove the electric fuel pump to use the mechanical? How about all the sensors that have no home. Any advice on rewiring using the original harness would be greatly appreciated. One more thing..how do I mount the power steering pump after removing the ac. I have no mounting holes in the trick flow heads. I gotta tell anybody thinking of swapping their 2.8 for a 350....DON"T GO THERE unless you have ALOT of time patience and $$$$$

damn, you actually did it! get an adjustable fpr and wire the fuel pump to ignition power.
Make sure you do not have a computer controlled distributor (use late 70's early 80's HEI) cap & wrap up the loose wiring. will look better than cut wires. can't help ya on the accessories, but there are plenty of knowledgable people here that can help you with that. also, can we assume that you don't have to worry about that silly e-check?

short block now
turbo eventually, 3.4 may be in the future

did it
i pulled the entire computer and harness and wired the thing like my old 79 chevy truck
just keep the relays for the fan and the electric fuel pump and wire them so they come on when the key is on
as for the a/c find an old camaro or firebird that had a v 8 and scam the brackets and hoses the 2.8 bracket and hoses wont work neither will the p/s pump

one more thing
i put a t on the feed side and the return side of the fuel line and then ran a 20 dollar adj fuel press reg in line to the carb and it works finedont plug the vent tube running back to the tank though

Well it was a good weekend, my Camaro is all wired up, started great. had to fabricate some brackets for the power steering and the kickdown. as the double hump heads have no mounting holes. I'm supposed to receive my malory 3 port today. isn't the fuel pressure to great for the 20.oo type regulator ? seems to me after time it would blow the diaphram....anyway thanxs for the info. Cant wait to drive this project. Gets the new exhaust tomorrow...3 inch back to a flowmaster. they tell me this will provide plenty of flow....any coments...have a great day
