how hard is it to swap an LS1 and T56 from a 4th gen camaro into a 3rd gen camaro? around how much will it cost? once the swap is done, how hard would it be to get like 400hp out of it?

I have a similar question. I need technical information on installing a '99 LS1 into an '89 IROC Conv. I called Fuel Injection Specialties and they are sending me adapters for bolting the existing LS1 motor mounts to the IROC mounts. They are also sending a video on installation tips.
Anything that you come up with let me know or post it on this board.
Thanks.

Street & Performance at www.hotrodlane.cc also has a wiring harness, a good vidio and other performance parts.
Diabolical, Do you already have a motor/tranny? Start right there you need an instant 3-4K or more for a used setup.
Add another 1-2K for new wiring harnesses and computer, or less if you can find a used setup. Best bet would be to find a complete engine tranny, computer, wiring etc.
Then, you need another 1K for all the little crap it will cost you. Custom exhaust, etc.
SDCal7, I have never seen any car that has done this swap, but it can't be any more difficult than swapping in an LT1. There's a guy in the SDFB club that is close to finishing an LT1 swap, and he may be able to help you. If you are not already a member, try www.sdfb.org. His name is Jason. I know that group doesn't cater to third gens much, but since I just bought one, there may be more than one showing up at meetings now

OH but it can be more difficult than swapping in an LT1, but its getting easier, the LS1 will need custom headers, unless maayyyyyybe some existing ones will work, the accessories may or may not clear, dont remember offhand, those ready made mounts will take a good bit of work out of it, my LT1 bolted right in, just needed a spohn x member for my T56, thank you 1LE A/C delete idler, existing 3rd gen headers will work.
