Looking for TPI to Carb swap guys

Well i finally got my heater fan working. After hours of traceing current and wires and grounds I finally found that I removed the A/C fuse in my fuse panel. Well that also controls the F*#$%#@#$ BLOWER MOTOR! hehe. Well thats done thank *** and now i have some heat, but the newest issue is the heat is permenantly on defrost. I heard that a vacuum source controls the vents and it goes into the engine compartment.

If anyone has fixed this could you tell me:
A) where is this vacuum hose
B) What did you guys rout it to??!?

Thanks

Matt

I have the same problem. i switched over to carb and i got my heat to work only on high but thats no big deal but it only comes out of the front vents. i see what looks like a small black vaccum hose by the blower motor. im gonna try and hook it up to something to see if it works.

Should be a small hard plastic line with a rubber tip to attach it to the manifold fitting. Might be the back of the carb base, can't remember without going out and looking at it.

Either way, manifold vacuum is the trick.

ahhh, I have an 89 T/A and have the same problem, cept my heat only comes out defrost.

I located the little black plastic line from the blower, plugged it into vacum, Im pretty sure its the rite hose, but instead of the vents changing position, all I hear is a hissing noise from the heater controls.

What is going on here?

Check the other end of the tube, like, at the heater control. You may also have a bad vacuum switch.

I had both of those problems on my 83

In my case both of the vacuum lines were unhooked from the storage thing on the firewall. On my originally carbed car the big flexable hose hooks from the intake manifold to the storage can, the small stiff hose hooks to it and goes in to the controls. It should also be hooked up to the intake or carb below the throttle valves btw.

Joshua it sounds like you have a leak in the controls. Just take it apart and find the problem the thing is really simple. It has two disks, one turns with **** to connect the engine line to different lines for the different vents

on my car (and I suppose all TPI cars) that black hose with the plastic tip goes into that check-valve that 2 other lines go into. Well ...I broke that once while replacing a line and the heater wouldnt work so I tried just plugging it in without the check-valve and it worked but made noise. Could the lack of a check-valve be causing these problems?
