rebuilding L98, tips, advice??

Hey guys.
the L98 went in my 92 z28 two nights ago. it's totally shot... i could hear clunking, knocking, banging inside the block so I shut it off and now it won't start etc. it's screwed over. so I'm going to havet o rebuild it I'm a student so I do have a budget... I'd like to keep parts under $2 000 and labour at a shop max. $1 500. I think this is possible... and i also think i can get better than stock hp out of this.

How much hp would I be getting if I had a full master rebuild with forged pistons, and high perf. internals installed. then got a set of Edelbrock aluminum heads and a good comp cams. camshaft. I need relatively mild compression cuz I want to use a 100hp shot of Nitrous to top it off.

Any guestimates? I know it's hard because unless you know the cam profile, heads etc. hard to get exact #'s... what do you think, 300hp easily attainable?

Thanks for ANY help guys... also what kind of machining would you recommend? boring 30 over? remachine the crank? hot tank? hone???? thanks... by the way machien work in my town is pretty expensive...

If you're on a budget, I wouldn't recommend boring it .30 over unless it's absolutely necessary.

I can give you the name and number of the guy who built my engine. I paid 1600 for a shortblock, balanced and bluprinted, forged rods, pistons. I bet you could get a new valve job for around 200 bucks and maybe some porting too? I'll email you with the number, or you email me. I'm right at the end of my engine swap The guy lives in Tacoma, not sure if that is too far out of the way for you?

Tacoma is kinda far... especially since i'm in school right now and don't have any wheels to even do anything :/
Thanks for the offer though it's appreciated.
tonight i found out a guy in my car club does mechanic work and has rebuilt three L98 350 TPI engines before (one of them is his in his 89 IROC)... he seems very fussy.
so i think i'm just gunna pull my engine, strip it down to the block and see what's wrong... rebuild etc. go from there.

i'll still keep this in back of my mind when making decisions about the car though...

thanks
