Dyno Results

Hi All,

I recently Dyno'd my car and was wondering if the numbers are more or less where they should be. My set up is as follows:

- zz383 crate engine (timing set @10 degrees\650 rpm with vacuum sec disconnected).
- 700r4
- 2400-2600 Stall Convertor
- 3" y-pipe to 4" catback Magnaflow from Mufflex (no cat)
- Hooker 2210 LTH
- Holley Street Avenger 770CFM (stock settings)
- Dual Plane Manifold
- Moser 9" with 3.70 gears
- MSD ignition 6AL and MSD distributor
- UMI SFC
- No AC
- Electric Fan

Thanks.

Re: Dyno Results

That's just about right. Figure that a stock 700R-4 at stock line pressure, combined with a 7.625" 10-bolt, will eat about 22% of your output, so take your results, divide by 0.78. The difference is probably mostly in your choice of torque converter.

What torque converter would you recommend for a "weekend warrior" street car?

Re: Dyno Results

I have no issue with the converter you have. I just wanted you to be aware that if the calculated numbers for engine output don't match GM's advertised numbers, the reason must lie in the torque converter. Some converters are slightly more efficient, some slightly less efficient. Better to be losing maybe 2% more power with the converter you have than to spend many hundreds of dollars looking for another 10 rwhp by trying every converter on the market.
