This is my attempt at porting my 624 heads. The gasket match is close to finished, all the roughing is done. I still have a bit of contouring to do around the valve guild section, but ill finish that after they are reworked next week. The ex side is pretty much done except for the finish polishing when i get them back. The runners will stay as they are for the most part.
Hopefully there are no cracks in the heads, I only have about 8 hours into them so far, so it wont be too bad if they are. Those guys who sell the porting kits are nuts with the prices they want. I do alot of mold polishing at my shop, and the cartridges are wayyyyy cheaper from an industrial supply house. I used just one full radius 1/4" high speed steel burr for both heads, and its still sharp. Carbide is nice, but not really needed. It also isnt very forgiving if you slip a little. The 50 pc. cartridge set with mandrels is just 28 bucks from enco, and you get a nice selection. The cast iron comes off really fast, not like the d2 tool steel Im used to. I almost cut the whole guild boss away in just a few seconds.
All in all its a simple thing to do if you take the time. Being a bit uncertain as to where, and how much to pull off I probably have about 3 hours too much into them...better safe than sorry. Even though these heads are supposed to be crap, I hope they move alot of air, and make for some fun.

Re: Port pics
Looking good thus far... I wish I had the patience to port a set of heads - my 781's would kick ***! I know how to do it, I just have the attention span of a 5yo.
