Turbo Lt1 to replace 383?

I have a 383 that's built to have 500 horses, but i has a carb and ect, and i really don't have anymore money to spend on it or do i "need" 500 horses right now. Im mainly looking for drivability and reliability, and you just cant get the same level from a carb that you can from fuel injection. I still want to have a lot of the power that my 383 has, but like i said, i want fuel injection.

I should be able to sell the 383 and get a pretty good penny for it and use that to buy about a $1200 Lt1 and swap it in. Then put the money up and get the turbo later. Even though i have a carb, i have fuel pump that's perfectly capable of pushing 50 psi or more so that's good.

I just have a few questions that someone may have some insight. Will the motor mounts from my 383 work with the Lt1. What about the hooker headers i have? Will they bolt up? And for the electronics. I know i will need the PCM, fuel rail injectors and etc. Is there A LOT of wiring to do? I have a t56 i swapped in so that may make things a a little bit easier. Just looking for a little insight.

Also one last question. Which would be a little more beneficial? The lt1 or maybe trying to swap the big block 427 vortech from a new 2500 silverado?

Thanks guys! Im really looking forward to the replies!

Check out the LT1 swap sticky. Yes, your current mounts and headers will work, although you might want to port match the header flanges (would involve welding around the outsides of the tubes to the flange to maintain the gasket seal).
