305 TBI to 350 TBI

I have a 1992 Camaro RS with a 305 TBI in it. It's been running like crap lately... it's got a bad ticking and loss of power, and not worth it to me to replace lifters and cam (if thats even the problem i dont know) when I have a 350 TBI sitting in my garage. The 350 TBI came from an '88 silverado 1500 and is in excellent running condition (i heard it run before it was pulled). I have the computer to the truck as well, but not the wiring harness

Is this a direct compatible swap? I'm not sure, but i was assuming i should use the truck's computer and everything else from the camaro, such as the camaro's exhaust manifolds and the camaro's emmisions components (that attach to the exhaust manifolds). But then i thought the camaro's exhaust manifold might be too small for the 350? i dont know.

I want to make sure a proper engine swap is done with all sensors working correctly on the 350 and no check engine light, etc. I'm sure you know what i mean. Im an experienced home mechanic and I'm confident i can accomplish this task as long as i know what I'm in for before hand. Any direction on this particular swap would be highly appreciated.

It should bolt in.

The 350 computer should work. Check on the TBI forum.

305 exhaust manifolds are too small for a 305. But, the truck exhaust manifolds won't fit in the chassis.

Re: 305 TBI to 350 TBI

Thanks for your reply.

So my biggest issue now is determining which exhaust manifolds / headers I should use for the 350 in my car. When i was looking at headers a while back, they all seemed to say they were not designed for smog injected applications. Both the 305 and the 350 have metal emmissions tubes coming from the exaust through the manifolds, but does that indicate a smog injected application? If not, how can i determine for sure which design i have?

Keep in mind I'm looking for this swap to cost a minimal amount of extra cash. Any suggestions as to which manifolds / headers i should use?
