Lifter Tick and Oil Question?
Lifter Tick and Oil Question?
My 350 has a lifter tick, i think. Im not exactly sure. I have had friends look at it to try to find out and they agree with me. I can only replicate the noise while driving under a load, so i cant be in neutral and rev it or drive slowly.
So i figure i have to take the Intake manifold off and re-due the gasket on that, might as well try fixing that to, But what exactly do i have to take off to get to the lifters, Just the intake manifold and the heads? And when i do that ill just put new rockers and everything else on as well.
Also when i take the oil cap off the driver side valve cover everything seams fine, but when i take the breather off the passenger side there's smoke coming out of it, Am i not getting enough oil to that side?

How about some basic information.
Is this a stock or modified engine?
Have you changed the cam? Lifters? Rockers?
How were your lifters adjusted?
With regard to the "smoke", was this with the engine running? Are you using a PCV valve?

Re: Lifter Tick and Oil Question?
I bought the car with the 350 swap in it already. As far as i know its a stock 350 block with stock internals. Ive never touched the inside of the engine, the guy i bought it off of had a shop do the swap and when he couldn't afford the bill, they worked something out and he got the car back and finished it off himself. He didn't know much about cars.
As for the smoke, its done it with the engine off and running. I do not have a pcv valve, it runs from the breather on the carb to a breather on top of the valve cover.
