5 speed manual to automatic
Hi all,
Looking for a little help, I have a 1989 RS with a 2.8l and 5 speed manual transmission I would like to pull the motor and trani out and put a 2.8 l with auto in it. Is this something I can do and if so what challengages will I run into. I am racing this car and we must have automatic transmissions. Thanks

Engine: L92/LQ4 (both w/4" stroke)
Transmission: 4L80E/4L80E
Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
Sure, it can be done. Since members are pulling V6's all the time for V8's, you might even come across someone who would give you the stuff.
Is there a requirement for the type of automatic transmission? If you go with the '83-up TH700, you should probably get a computer for auto trans as well.
