well i just did a v6-v8 swap i have a 350 and i went to start it and it turned over a few times and i got it to run for about 2 seconds and i mean like 2 seconds lol (timing to advanced) then when i went to try again it wouldnt turn over you could hear the starter hitting the flywheel so i thought i would try turning the engine by hand and it won't budge i just tried starting it with oil and no coolant just to see if it would run but no it wont turn or start i have no clue whats wrong with it at all i also tried to turn it without the plugs in so it didnt have as much compression and also put oil down the spark plug holes to help it along and still nothing i can hear the starter hitting the flywheel and thats about it nothing more..so it ran and noit wont budge and i hear the starter....ANY IDEAS WILL HELP THIS CAR HAD TO BE DONE LAST WEEK lol so now im stuck

UPDATE: engine is no longer seized but must come out to get rebuilt now as there was a bolt in the combustion chamber...no clue how it got there so the piston is destoyed and was caught up on the bolt causing it to stop

 

that sucks, must have fallen into the intake at some point. not sure how it made it past the valve without destroying that too, unless it did.

 

not vavle is fine only thing destroyed is the piston it was a valve cover bolt...no clue how it got in there cuz i had all 8 and it got pushed right into the piston and stuck there so the engine wouldnt do a complete turn thats y i thought it was seized but i got it turning by hand in both ways but only so far til that piston lifted and hit the vavle then stopped and wouldnt go any farther so tuesday im goin to the local shop to get him to put a new piston in cuz it looks like that is all he damage done..how much you think it will cost for a .20 over piston plus labour..ballparked obviously

 

im sure you will need more than a piston. the engine is most likely full of shattered piston parts and will need to be cleaned, which may involve a total teardown.

However, im would be surprised if the head/valve are not damaged too.

but maybe you will get lucky, who knows

 

well my brother and i ripped off the heads and they were fine(he used to work at the machine shop we are taking the block to but he is going back to school) and the piston wasnt like shattered lol it had a big dent near the bottom where the bolt got stuck so i dont think it will need to be tore down completely..well i hope not...if so ill be going on what thy call "a deadbeat board" lol

 

and sorry not combustion chamber..bolt was in cylinder sorry brain fart lol
