Re: 3.1 to 4.3 carb swap help
there are a few things to check.
the mounts should be easy because the astro 4.3, unlike the s-10 4.3,
uses the same 2.8l style mounts as the camaro and 2.8 s-truck.
trans mount, you will have to swap the fbody tailhousing onto the astro trans. direct fit.
what year is the astro?
is it tbi or vortec? witch vortec?
i assume your camaro is multi port?
you might have to change the alt/ac/power steering brackets on the front of the
motor to a set from a camaro / fb or caprice.
the truck alt and ac comp brackets position the accessories about 2 inches higher than the car parts.
so you might not be able to close the hood without changing them to car spec.
the astro might have a hydroboost system on it, that would be a great and easy swap because you get
FULLY three times the brake boost compared to the best vac brake booster available.
the truck harness is about 2 feet shorter than the camaro parts but you have plenty
of room to drill a new hole under the edge of the ac box at the trans tunnel.
the exhaust manifolds fit fine and the power steering lines hook right up with little
to no bending.
