Questions about 305 to 350 swap that I can't find answers for
Hey guys, I have a few starter questions that I cannot find the answers to on here so I figured I would start a thread catered to my needs.
First off to give you a little info, everything is stock under the hood of my '91 rs (305 tbi etc). I bought the car expecting to swap a 350 for the 305. Now my dad did alot of motor work back in the day and I currently have several 350s in the garage. They are older though, I could probably get details on them if necessary but I think they are out of a few 80s trucks/suvs
My first question is whether or not I can drop one of these in (cleaned up obviously) and have the stock TBI stuff bolt onto it correctly? or do I need to get a newer motor that already has its own TBI since all of these motors were carbed in their original lives?
Second, would it cause less problems to keep the TBI or just switch to a carb (I have a few holleys ranging is size)?
And finally, I have read lots of things to watch out for with this swap but can someone reiterate the most important ones please?
Sorry for being difficult, and help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Blade
