WIRING NIGHTMARE

ok so i did a 2.8 to 350 swap i had it running and everything and all of a sudden it stopped i found a wire had broke going to the starter so the car didnt have power it had broke just after the fusible link, i went to 6 different places and noone had a fusible link so i put an inline fuse in and it blew a 20a 30a and 40a, then i was told just to baybass the link and take it completely out so i did that and all i heard was sparking at the starter from what i can see no wires are touching and the starter is on the block tight so its grounded the fuse blows as soon as i attach the battery wire to the battery and then it blows so im confused anyone have ideas?

thank you

Re: WIRING NIGHTMARE

review your wire layout make sure you refer to the 350 wiring diagram as well as the 2.8 to make sure you did the swap correctly...

Re: WIRING NIGHTMARE

if you're blowing fuses, never bypass. you first need to start by figuring out where that wire goes and why its blowing links and fuses. if there's a short somewhere and you get rid of the circuit's protection (the fuse/link), you could cause some serious damage to the vehicle.

the link was still good just the wire broke cuz it was running no problem time and time before, but i couldnt find a link anywhere so i added in an inline fuse wit a 40amp but i read on TGO that if you replace it with a fuse u need to add up all the electronics (lights gauges etc) to get the fuse amp but i have no clue what that would be lol i ended up finding a donor car and took the link out of that im gonna try that if that doesnt work...i guess ill be making a harness over the winter...
