327 swap into my 91 rs
Okay I'm new to this site
I have a 91 rs that i just pulled the 305 out of. I now have a 400 HP 327 in it, bored to a 331, fully forged, larger cam, holly intake manifold, 700r4 transmission, 373 posi in the rear, I am going to use the 4bbl carb and pickup thats in my iroc for this.
Here are the problems i have ran into, starter doesn't fit, exhaust manifolds don't fit, flexplate don't fit, and I can not find any of these parts
And the 327 is a 63

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Starter - I assume you don't have a hole in the block in the correct spot. You may be able to get a mini starter that uses the bolt holes you have.
Exhaust manifolds - The RS exhaust manifolds will kill a 400 HP anything. Get headers. The rest of the stock exhaust should be replaced as well. Go for '86-'90 TPI single cat application parts and you should be good.
Flexplate - You need an '85-earlier flexplate. The '83-'85 f-body V8 application flexplate will work. It will be 153-tooth - make sure your starter works with that size. Or, you can get a flexplate for an '85 pickup 350 application, which will be 168-tooth.
What Holley intake do you have? What carb? What do you mean by using the pickup in your IROC?

And of course, if it has the 63 heads, your accessories won't bolt up to it.
There's NO starter that will work on that old motor without the right bolt hole, and the right size flex plate for the car. You can use a 14" (168-tooth) flex plate and yerbasic PG/350/400 starter though, if having it an extra 5/8" away from the crank doesn't cause fitment problems with something else, like maybe the exhaust.
You'll need THE RIGHT linkage pieces to go on the carb for the 700 TV cable. DO NOT even hallucinate for a single second that you can hack something together oof half-a$$ it or rig it somehow; all you will accomplish that way, is to DESTROY your transmission within a couple hundred miles. Holley sells the piece you need. GET IT. Whatever it costs, it's worth it.
