305 to 350 swap

First i have a few questions before i start buying the parts for the motor to swap in. i have 2 blocks ones a 350 out of a truck or i can use a 350(lt1) block. i want to use the lt1 block but not as an lt1 just the block not the cam or heads or anything but the lt1 has the timing chain driven waterpump which also means the stock heads are reverse flow so im not sure if i can just buy 350 parts everything including heads cam crank pushrods lifters etc. can anyone help me let me know what you think or what you know from doing or someone else doing... thanks the car it is going in is an 89 chevy camaro t5 tranny with a 305 tbi i will be getting a performance prom

If you use the LT1 block, build an LT1 engine. You can get cam, heads, etc., for them, but they have to be LT1-type. The choices are limited. Many of the parts like crank, pushrods, lifters, pistons, etc., will work from Gen I SBC's, but you're still going to have to specify "LT1" when getting a cam, for instance. Don't plan on putting the TBI on the LT1, though.

It's an SBC if you use an SBC block, it's an LT1 if you use an LT1 block.
