conversion TBI to Edelbrok carburator: computer controlled distributor??
Hi
I'm a Pontiac Firebird 88 owner. My car was converted from TBI to a manual carburator. It was installed a 1405 Edelbrock carburetor, Edelbrock performer intake mainflow, exhaust headers edelbrock , deleted EGR catalytic converter smog pump.
But the distributor is still original, controlled by the ecm.
The car worked fine for me, is a manual 5 speed. So I would understand if it is essencial change also the distributor with a manual one.

I checked with the timing light at 2000 rpm, and the ignition timing moves forward. so I presume that it work fine. i write from italy and here is very difficult to find someone that knows this kind of things.

It's not fine. You're not getting enough advance, only the very small amount that's built into the distributor's limp-home mode.
