Why can't things just be easy?

Ok I am working on swapping my 305 TPI out and putting in an L98 TPI from a Corvette. The Corvette was even the same year as my Z28. Everything was going fine until I realized the bracket that mounts the AC compressor and the belt tensioner from the 305 will not mount to the L98 aluminum heads. My question is do I use the belt and pulley setup from the vett or do I have the heads machined so I can mount the bracket on them? Thanks for any help with this.

The lower bolts that connect to the block still line up, right? I forgot what TPI acc. Brackets look like, I chucked them a long time ago. You can drill and tap the heads while in the engine bay. Use The brackets to mark your holes, drill the proper sized hole with a drill motor, use a tap to make.treads. I think the bolts are 3/8" but don't quote me. .. I wouldn't drill too deep, maybe 1/2" deep. Goodluck!!

Thanks thats a good idea. Yes the bolts on the block still line up. I would like to chuck it as its big and bulky. But I still need the AC pump.

Means nothing.
Vettes and F-Bodies have always had different setups due to different under hood clearance

Where are you missing holes?

The bolts for the bracket are at the bottom of the head on the passenger side. I put red circles in about the location.

Re: Why can't things just be easy?

After further investigation only one hole does not line up. So if three of the four bolt up then I am not going to worrie about the forth one.

Thanks for the help.
