first engine swap/build ever, have a few questions
Just had a Vortec 350 rebuilt and planning to drop it in my 92 Trans Am convertible. I know I have to upgrade to 350 computer/chip,injectors,sensors,etc. Have a few questions, I'm keeping the TPI setup and getting a TPI/Vortec intake (not sure which one yet). My questions are, which waterpump do I use? which distributor? What headers will work with the vortec? flexplate? and finally, will the original auto transmission bolt on?

have you thought about the hsr vortec? those tpi vortec bases are alot of money of money for what you get and they dont flow well in stock form.

Flexplate - Any Flexplate from a 1-piece RMS F-body will work(87-92)
Headers - Any standard SBC headers for an F-body will bolt up
Transmission - If your bird was originally a V8, then the transmission will bolt right up. If you had a V6 in there however, you will need to replace it with a V8 transmission.
Distributor - I believe a regular 87+ computer-controlled V8 F-body distributor will work, but I'm not 100% sure of that.
If your Trans Am had a V8 in it originally, then the flexplate, exhaust, water pump, and starter can all be used on the Vortec block. The distributor I'm not 100% sure of as I said, but I believe it can. The only differences between a Vortec block and an older SBC are the intake bolt pattern, it uses a roller cam, and the rear main seal is a 1-piece.
