How to swap a 2.8 for a v8 in less time(mounts)
I'm new here and have started building a drag car while I also begin to do a full resto on my very first car, 82 t/a. My drag car I originally bought for a parts car but then got a killer deal on a s10 swapped with a built 355 and th350 trans so I purchased it too. My 82 t/a needs floorpans so I couldn't put the motor in it (already a v8 car) so I started tearing into the 84 firebird I bought for parts. It's a solid car but had the 2.8 and 5 speed which where not my taste. So I pulled the motor and trans and got to looking at the motor mounts and how hard they would be to move and then my cousin got the bright idea that because the s10 came with the 2.8 that the motor mounts that were used in the swap might work and what do you know, they did. They worked perfect and even have about 2" of forward and rearward adjustability. I can't imagine I'm the first to try this but haven't seen it mentioned in the swap threads I looked through, so for those with more money than time the s10 conversion mounts do save alot of time.
