Another 305 to 350 swap

Hello guys, I'm looking to swap a 350 into my 84 T/A but I have some questions.
First a little back story. So I just bought this Trans Am after spending a while searching for a vehicle to work on. The car has already had a lot of work done to it but the 305 needs a rebuild and if I'm going to be pulling the engine I figure I might as well put a 350 or a 383 in there.

Heres where the questions begin.
1. Should I stick with the stock Q-jet and just leave the computer system in there? Would everything still run correctly with a 350 or a 383?
2. Should I rip out the computer that controls the carb, distributor, trans lockup? (also what else does it control?)
3. What other modifications would I need to do if I did take out that computer?

Sorry if these questions have been answered a million times over. All this computer crap is new to me.

I'm sure I'll have more questions later too.

Thanks guys.

As far as I understand it, the stock computer controlled carb setup is about the best carb setup there is. Better performance and better mileage than anything available aftermarket. And it will feed your 350 just fine. I'd stay with it if it were me.

A Canadian '84 may not have had a computer q-jet.

But, either q-jet would handle a 350 or 383 just fine. Some tuning may be required. But, that would be cheaper than a different carb. And, as stated, the q-jet is a pretty good street performance carb.

I'm 90% certain that its computer controlled. I'll check again we tow the car on Friday (no plates on it, its been sitting for a while not going to risk driving it across the city).

I'll probably stick with the stock setup since I'm already pretty familiar with quadrajets.
