HELP! got the new 350 in,but the transmission isnt lining up
So we swapped my 305 out for a 1993 350 TBI Type A Roadmaster engine.
After working hard on it for all this time, finally got her in today. Went to go bolt up the transmission, and its not lining up. The little pegs are in the holes, but the torque converter is way above the flywheel. All the holes are already lined up. Weve been through hell with this stupid car. Its been one thing after another never ending. We thought we finally caught a break, but no. So 4 grand later, still at a dead stop. Weve had the car for almost a year now and with my dad working full time and constantly stressed and me being in highschool, its just a giant hassle. Is there a special type of adapter plate i can buy? Or do i have to get a whole new transmission? The one in the car is a 4L60E. Do i need the 700r4? help would be GREATLY appreciated.Thank you and god bless

I think the 4l60E has a bellhousing that can be unbolted. Like a manual gear box. The reason GM made the 4l60E a 2 peice case was so other aoto manufacturers could use that trans. BMW used the 4l60E and put there own bellhousing on it. Maybe the roadmaster used a different bellhousing for driveline angle or something like that. find a F-body bellhousing. I would bet this would solve your problem.

You cannot use a 4L60E transmission, not without having a seperate computer to control it (which is expensive) - the 4L60E tranny is completely computer controlled.
Are you sure it's a 4L60E? Because in the F-bodies, 1993 they used a 4L60 (no E), which is the same as a 700R4, and should be fine. But a 4L60E would not be worth the effort to use.
