Carbed 350 swaps

Who has swapped carbed 350s in there camaro. I have an 85 z28 with 305 carbed. Looking to swap to a 350 but would like to know some things. Hows your gas mileage? Was the swap difficult and was it worth?

Re: Carbed 350 swaps

Gas mileage - depends on the 305 and the 350. For otherwise equal motors, it will be about the same.

Difficult - that depends on who you are and what tools you have. Like, brain surgery probably isn't too "difficult" for a brain surgeon, but I doubt you'd want ME inside your skull with a knife. And, it's a real PITA to pull a motor with 4 guys, 2 4x4s, and a couple of chains, but it's been done; but a whole lot less "difficult" with a cherry picker. On the whole though, since it's not really a "swap", it's about as easy as it gets. If this one is "too hard" for someone, they need to take up a new hobby.

Worth - in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I would say, not; since it's basically the exact same effort to put in 50 more inches than that. Virtually the same work, twice the improvement. But that's just me.

Re: Carbed 350 swaps

I have a 4 bolt 355 carbed in mine.

Wiring is 12v to coil and starter 1 wire with a 10K series resistor for the tach. Temp and oil pressure converter to external mechanical gauges. MPG 9-13 I think a lot of that is the 3.73 rear end I also think I am running rich and often open all 4 barrels. I never drove the car stock with the L69 190hp HO engine but I have driven a camaro with a 305 and the mild 355 I have now blows it away. The fuel pump is a mechanical unit and I added a venting fuel cap.
