i recently bought a 1989 trans am firebird GTA and it has a 350 corvette tune point injected engine and has over 180k miles on it i was wondering what would be a better engine to put in i want something that has over 300 horsepower but still a trans am motor any ideas.

Son, how do you know it's a "corvette engine" ? Lemme guess, the seller said so.

next, what is a trans am engine?

I suggest that you use the search feature on this site, do a little more educating of yourself so you will be able to understand the answers that you will receive


Oh, by the way, this topic has been discussed several hundred times and the search function will reveal that too.

 

If by "trans am" motor you mean a Pontiac engine - forget it - Pontiac stopped making engines in the late 1970's - it's all Chevy now - regardless of the body having Cadillac, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, etc. badges.

 

If your going to change engines go with an LSx motor you wont be disappointed.
