This swap is taking forever :(
"if it has **** or wheels, it's gonna give you trouble or drain your wallet"
Words to live by for sure!
Well, since deciding to keep my car, and slowly start the swap, I've been gathering up parts left right and center and piling them in the garage to collect dust. Time is really hard to come by these days to work on the car. But, it's slowly coming around. I have the car stripped down to the bare body. The entire drivetrain is out. I have my new 12 bolt moser rear resting up under it waiting to get bolted up. Probably going to do that next days off. Anyways, I've been searching for little parts to make the swap easier on me, rather have everything I need so once I start again I don't have to be running back and forth ordering parts. Anyways, I recently pulled everything from the engine bay and cleaned it up real nice. I'm going back to the same color when painted so I'm not going to touch the engine bay as it's in really good shape, paint wise.
Few remaining parts I need/concerns
New flywheel to bolt t56 to pre-86 block
Rear disc brake setup
Bolts for t56, engine to bell, bell to trans, clutch, pressure plate, EVERYTHING. I have no boots and gm discontinued most of them.
Does anyone know where to get the hardware for the t56? Even the sizes and grade?
Will my stock 305 radiator cool my new 355? I see some guys using them with their new ls1 swaps. If not, any recommendations on which rad to use?
Also, I'm looking for a set of corvette wheels or 2010 camaro wheels, if anyone has any of the parts I'm listing for sale please msg me. I'm starting to run out of budget on this project for a while so I just want to get it driving this year. Also, my car is a 1991 rs model, will I need to recalibrate my speedo with the new lt1 style t56?
If anyone is interested, I have a centerforce flywheel for a stroker engine. I can get the part number tonight, its almost in new condition. Make me an offer if anyone's interested.
I drove my brothers new nissan 350z last night, and now I have high hopes for my camaro. I'm praying to god it handles half as good as that. With the new Koni shocks all around, with the subframe connectors, adjustable lower control arms, panhard bar and torque arm, do you guys think the handling will be even remotely close or should I do some more things now that's it's all apart? I was looking at a new k member all together with the front coils, any thoughts?
Well I think I've exhausted this opening post lol, looking forward to some responses!

For your transmission hardware.. The transmission to bellhousing and bellhousing to engine bolts you can pick up from any hardware store. I got grade 8 for mine, not sure I would have even needed that though. I can't remember what size they were though, just found one in my box o' bolts that fit and brought it to the store to get more.
The flywheel bolts you can get online at summit or jegs, I went with ARP and the set was less than $15. Macleod makes the pressure plate bolts, those are expensive though, over $50 for the set.
I'd try your stock radiator before I dropped money on a new one. The radiator isn't that hard to change out if you'd have to, and the aftermarket stock style radiator for the 305 is the same as the 350, I wouldn't doubt the stock radiator is the same between them too.
I don't know what to say about the K member. I've got an aftermarket one in my car, I've read on here that the stock one is actually stiffer/better than the aftermarket ones. Its really nice for the added clearance around headers, can't say if it makes a bit of difference performance wise.
And for your speedometer - yes you'll have to recalibrate it. Dakota digital makes a conversion box for it, if you look in the "transmission" section there's a sticky about the T-56 swap and it shows how to wire it in and program it on the third page.
