Couple Questions on motors and Camaros!
ok, guys I'm planning on swapping my 305 tbi automatic in my 91 camaro for a 383 eventually, but right now I'm in the parts list stage and what direction I want to go. So if you guys could answer a couple questions that would be great.
1. How much power can you get away with with just sfc, stock rearend, and rebuilt tranny, with out having to have a cage and bigger rearend?
2. How much hp/tq is the general rule to get a 91 camaro in the 11.50 range. I know there is a lot of factors to consider when asking that question but whats the general consciences on it.

Re: Couple Questions on motors and Camaros!
There's a book called "How to run 11 second e.t.'s on a Budget" that's pretty good. I built a "Stage 4" motor (a Chevy 400) that pulled 480 HP/460 TQ on the engine dyno. And I didn't spend a lot of time tinkering with it, cause I only had 3 hours with the dyno.
The book is a little dated, but it describes running low 11s with AFRs (215 CC, I think), a Lunati flat tappet cam (#40146), and a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake (#7101). I used 215 CC Darts in place of the AFRs.
You might try http://www.showmelocal.com/profile.aspx?bid=3324733 (Quikie Racing) for a copy of the book, since it seems to be out of print.

Thanks for the input, I really would rather do a 383 than a 400 because I plan on driving it on the street and I heard they have cooling issues.
