L69 to 327 need advice

hey guys

i went to my mechanic because my car doesn't run as it use to and he says that my engine is tired i also might be burning oil,

so we were talking and he offered 327 engine that he just pulled out of a camaro 1 gen or 2 gen not sure. and he wants $1500 to do it all. and the engine has 47000 miles

i was just wondering if theres going to be any problems during install and and after. Am i hurting the value of my car since my motor and all is original ?

is it all worth it?

thank you.

Re: L69 to 327 need advice

We'd need pics of the car to even guess if it's worth keeping original.
And we need more info on the 327. What heads does it have?
An engine getting tired is possible. Did a tune-up not help? Have you done a compression test? How about a leakdown test?
Have you been using additives in your oil? If not, you may be losing some lobes / lifters. You do know about the ZDDP issue, right?
Switching to the 327 might make your car more fun. But it could open several new cans of worms.

im going to take it to another mechanic and see what he has to say, i have not been using any additives in my oil just regular oil and i have not done compression test i will ask mechanic to do it.

i will check ZDDP ,dont know what it is, will do research on it.
as for the 327 dont know nothing about it.

After looking at your other thread, I advise you to save everything you ever remove from that car.
Definitely get a second opinion.
