LT1 swap questions
LT1 swap questions
Please don't flame me too much. I have been searching around the site and read all sorts of threads to include the stickies. I was just wondering if there is a consolidated list of the minimum required items to do a LT1/4L60E swap into a 85 trans am.
1. LT1/4L60E/ I am using a 97 lt1 from a camaro,
2. Wiring harness, custom made or third gen 4th gen combo with 4th gen computer
3. Different K-member/modified one??? I read I don't need to change this.
4. Different Transmission crossmember???? Only for extra clearance, can modify stock.
5. Do I need to upgrade the radiator and fans???
What else is mandatory for the swap????
Any and all answers or suggestions appreciated.
Also what would be a decent torque convertor for this type of install. I will be going with Lloyd elliot setup/

Re: LT1 swap questions
just sayin, if ya did a search for those things you would have found it.
SO... for the wiring, how much money you lookin to spend? you can build one yourself on the cheap, or buy a custom made one to your specs. i bought mine from eficonnection.
you can use a stock k member and you dont have to modify it if you arent putting A/C in it.
with the 4l60 you should be able to use the stock crossmember.
is your car originally a tpi? the rad should be fine, use dual fans, and if it isnt a tpi, replace the fuel pump to a tpi one at least.
