Any ideas?
Any ideas?
My names Mike and about a year ago i bought an 84 camaro with no motor or transmission ($300 if it matters) but i went into the project with someone who didnt seemed to be a flake then but is now so i decided to start over with it and do thing the right way rather than the half @$$ way. i have a 350 small block for it i got the block from a 71 c10, the cam/crank/pistons/intake and a 700r4 trans from a 87 firebird, and the carb and heads from an el camino not sure what year. im not worried about how long it take to rebuild the car or how much it cost. i just want to be proud of my work when im done. also for the motor i want it to have around 350 to 400hp. so that being said any ideas on what i should do? i appreciate any advice on it.

About a 95% chance you'll toss those. What carb? Most likely the heads will have a casting # that ends with 882 or 624.
Do you plan to rebuild the shortblock? Hope so.
An '87 Firebird cam and crank won't work in a '71 350 block.
This head/intake kit http://sdparts.com/details/scoggin-d...nter/sd8060aag , Comp XE268 cam (or something similar from another brand like Lunati - NOT Edelbrock, Elgin, Summit, etc.), 650 carb, good headers and cat-back, you'll have the power and a nice running car. A 2500 stall converter and 3.55-3.73 gears would be icing on the cake.

Re: Any ideas?
I havn't been around cars that long so I don't really know to much about the technical thing's that's how the car started getting sloppy. The block is about the only thing that I really dont want to change. I wanted to get some aluminum heads for it but im not sure what kind to get. A couple other questions I had were is there a transmission that works best with the 350, and what rear end should I put in the car, and also is there any thing i should look out for on an 84?

ok we need to know what the car will be used for, how much HP, and how your driving habits are.
Re: Any ideas?
I'm planning on using the car as a daily driver untill I get another one (I have a car right now but its on its last legs) I wanted it to have 350-400hp and im not entirely sure what you mean by driving habits. Also I wanted to have the car last long enough to possibly pass in to the next generation.
