1991 Firebird V8 swap, speedo is way off
Hello my Thirdgen friends!
I'm new to this forum, but do have a 1991 Firebird Convertible with a V8 swap that I've purchased less than a week ago.
The previous owner did a swap. He went from a 3.1 V6 to 5.7 V8. I now have a 5.7 V8 350 engine with a T5 World Class transmission. I don't know the details of the swap, but one thing that I know for a fact is that the speedo and odometer are way off.
Question is: do I need to replace just the speed sensor on the transmission or is it more complicated than that? The speedometer only goes to 80mph (total) which is a joke so I was thinking about swapping it for a V8 cluster which goes to 140mph. But it wouldn't sold my main issue.
Please help and thanks in advance!

Welcome to TGO, Dalakian.
At the very least, the VSS gears (drive, driven or both) need to match rear end gearing.

Thank you, James!
According to the last owner, the only thing that I need to replace is the speed sensor. Do you think it's possible that it would solve the issue?
If so, where can I buy that sensor and what type of sensor do I need to buy? I know that there are different kinds (digital, etc)
Thanks for you help.

The VSS type driven gear may be difficult to find. Perhaps a call to the site below will be helpful:

Beautiful car.
If you want a v8 cluster, let me know. I've got one in great condition that I'm getting tired of.
