im converting my bbc gen 6 454 to run the ls1 coils and msd ls ignition box 6010.the main reason im doing is because msd 6010 box a lot cool features 2 step.start retard nitrous timming and u could hook to laptop and costum tune the timming . and it looks a little cooler to not to have distributer wires all over the place.will post more pics when im done.

thanks tpi terr waiting on a oscilloscope to test the crank sensor but for right now im just using the hei distibutor

 

So what's the update? This a cool setup for a big block.

 

here the update i got the oscillocope and tested the crank trigger .it has no signal when the engine turns over.it has no signal reason being that i have a aftermarket timing set so the crank sprocket is thicker than my stock by 0.100 .i will be going to the machine shop to cut some thickness of the crank sprocket.
thickness right now is 0.556 needs to be 0.456

That looks pretty sweet! Is the distributor a GM piece? I wonder if that could be adapted to a Pontiac?

 

yeah gm does have one but is in composite plastic.its one of those that come on a 96-00 vortec engines. i have one but the aluminum one looks cooler

 

finally got to work on the engine again.finallyyyy got the engine to start up with the msd 6010 box .its 11pm im gonna start to mess with the timing tomorrow .

yeah ill post some up as soon as i finish making the brackets for them .right now there on top of the valve covers

 

here are the pics its all wired up and done.and all i can say is wow the msd 6010 is badass.precision timing. idles way better.two step rev limit set at 3000 for some full throttle luanches.still messing with it. gonna re dyno so see if any improvements hp and tg

this is works on the gen 6 bbc engine 454 or 502.might also work on the 96-99 vortec 350.before installing the relucter wheel make sure your crank sprocket is .450 thick.i had a aftermarket cloyes gear with were thicker .556. the problem was the sensor would not pick up the signal
