1986 Firebird (305 or 350?)
I have an 86 Firebird and plan on racing it stock for a bit and adding to it later on when im out of college. This will be my first rebuild I am mainly wondering if its worth to rebuild the 305 thats in it or swap it out for a 350, and if I should just go with the 350 where could I find a block to get started, and can a lot of the parts from the 305 fit on the 350? any and all the info you can give me would help a lot, thanks.

350 ALL THE WAY!!! If you go the 350 route you can find a engine almost any j-yard unless you just have to have crate. Look for a roller motor (roller lifters, cam,) stuff like that. You can prolly look for a 96-up truck motor for about $400 maybe even less because you will prolly want to rebuild it and bore it anyway. There are far more options out there as far as upgrading for the 350 than there is for the 305. You could go LTx, or LSx, or like I did GEN 1 and have a good reliable engine. 305's can be made to make good power but it costs alot more.
