305 Build Ideas.
I was reading an article in Popular Hotrodding, about a 305 build they did to make 372hp to the crank and I wanted to somewhat mimic it. I was talking to a friend who is in a engine building class in college, and he asked his teacher for some insight on my idea and he said that it wouldn't work cause the stock bottom end in the 305 would blow out/crack, whatever you may call it. Now I've heard from a few people that it wouldn't break, then I heard that it would from some other people. Now hopefully some of y'all can help me out. I know some of you are gonna bash me at the start for the fact I'm not trying to build a 350. I'm working on a very limited budget and the 305 build fits that budget. So now someone tell me if the block will break or not. Thanks everyone for your help!

Re: 305 Build Ideas.
You can copy that build, and daily drive it for a very long time. I've done way too much beating on basically stock SBCs, my favorite shift point has always been 6200, and I've never had any problem from doing so. The build you referenced was originally called the "Hate Me" 305, and we've discussed it before. If you have a T5, you'll want a 4.10:1 axle, and likewise if you go for a 200-4R. For a 700R-4, you'll need a 3.73:1. With either automatic, you'll want at least a 2400-stall torque converter. I'd suggest using the XE262 instead of the XE268.
