1992 camaro Question!!

I have a 92 RS Camaro, I was wanting to put in a 350 ci engine in it. If I remove the 305 TBI will it make the car worth less if I go to sell it? Should I rebuild the the original motor and leave it in?

Thanks

Re: 1992 camaro Question!!

THere's nothing "desireable" about a TBI 305.

About the only motor you could put in that would "devalue" it, would be a 6-cyl.

Assuming of course, that whatever "putting in" is done, is done in a neat, orderly, reliable, failure-proof way; AT LEAST AS carefully and with as much attention to detail, as the factory used.

And I'm not talking about "chrome" or "cleaning up the engine bay" :barf: either. Rather, things like making sure all the parts fit, the wires aren't a bird's-nest hack job, the fluids stay inside everything, and so on.

Under no circumstances would I recommend "rebuilding" the motor you have now. YOu can get TBI 350s out of trucks all day long, that will cost EXATLY the same to "rebuild" as that 305; not much sense spending $xxxxx and have a 305 at the end, when for the same $xxxxx you can have a 350 instead. But if what's there now works, not much sense in doing any of that at all; just drive it.

Re: 1992 camaro Question!!

I am about to put a 350 in my car.

I promise I am keeping to original numbers matching 305 in a safe place just in-case i sell it.

Granted a GTA is more rare than an RS but I would at least keep the motor if I was you.

Plus you can only rebuild them so many times so that's another good reason to use another motor for your heavy gas pedal.

Re: 1992 camaro Question!!

Personally, I think when you try to sell it you'll get more if it had a rebuilt anything in it, and more for a 350 than a 305, very few people look for cars that are all numbers matching and entirely stock, especially not on a car that's not even that old, BUT in the future, yes, there might be that one guy whose willing to pay more for a numbers matching bone stock collectible, but for every one guy who will pay more for bone stock, there will be five other guys who would pay more money for more power
