L31 help

Does anyone know if I can use the stock l31 engine pan or do I need a v8 f body pan

On here I've seen guys claim it's a no-go, but my own experience says yes. I only pull 350s from '88-up 2WD 1/2-ton fullsize pickups. And to further reinforce this, there's an old thread here somewhere, I showed that a 4WD 3/4-ton '93 suburban 454 oil pan fit with very little hammering, though it did hang very low. I can't see how a non-vette SBC pan could fail to fit, since that monster did.
