92TBI to Carbed 350 Harness Question
92TBI to Carbed 350 Harness Question
Am I better off getting an engine harness from an older carbed 305 or just building one from scratch for this swap?
I was thinking just cutting back all the un used wires, but it looked easier to just make a new one and yank out the old one.
I say older harness because on my 84 I don't remember there being such a hastle for all the swapping.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
If you're talking about a non-computer, non-emissions-compliant carb swap, then all the wires you need are in your current harness.

Yeah non emission carbed setup.
Its a 70s 350 HEI setup with a 600cfm carb. Reusing the altinator, a/c and steering pump.
Had to put an adjustable fuel regulator, and the car has the pcm and vats bypassed.
I was just woundering if a different harness would work better that the 92 305TBI harness it currently runs. I still want to run the stock a/c and heater controls. I guess its still just vacuum for the controls, and I think I am going to just do a relay for the SES light and run power directly to the guages. Now with this current set up can I run the guages that are in the car or am I better off puting in a custom set? Or do they run off the PCM?

The gauges and the ECM don't have anything to do with each other. That's one reason why using your current harness makes a lot of sense.
Keeping the '92 alternator and AC is another good reason.

ok so the guage cluster must not be getting power because the ignition being bypassed... So the temp sensor and the volts ect dont run thru the pcm? That actually is great news.
