hey everyone,
i have a 1987 camaro IROC Z (tpi model) and i just swapped in a 350 (it was originally a 305), i heard that when you do this you need to swap the ecm and PROM with the 350 ones. i bought the 350 ecm today but i cannot find the 350 PROM anywhere. the dealer said they are disconnected but they could get me one for 480 dollars. oreilly has them for 353 but special order. i was wondering if there is any place online or in store that has them more available when i dont have a core or chip number to begin with. i already tried ebay and summit with no luck. also is there any aftermarket ones that come with the PROM not just an add on to the original PROM and if so would it be cheaper? i would prefer to use an original one but if i have to i will use an aftermarket one i will. any help is appreciated.

No such thing
The ECM used for 305 and 350 is identical ( for a given year) ;only the memcal / prom / chip inside that you are looking for changed

The actual tune is on the add on adapter so you could possibly use the 305 memcal as the " original " prom;
is mainly there for limp home mode

There are some members on here that may have the gear to be able reprogram your 305 memcal so you don't need the adapter
