v8 swap shocks & springs
v8 swap shocks & springs
im doing a v6 to v8 swap, im going to get eibach 1'' lowering springs, but im not sure if i need to get different shocks or not?
It has newer shocks on it but since its a v6 car i doubt they would be stiff enough. im not making a road race car but i do want it to handle better than average for dirt cheap. any incite helps! thanks

If money is tight, then skip the Eibachs and get Moog springs, cut as desired, use KYB GR2s. Moog: either 5662s or 5664s for the front, and either 5665s or CC635s for the rear.

You don't really need to change springs. Twice I've put SBC's in Camaros I bought with 2.8s in them, both times I kept the V6 springs. The second time I ended up cutting those springs. You can get both shocks and both struts delivered for $150 for all 4.
Re: v8 swap shocks & springs
ok how did it handle with stock v6 suspension with the v8 in it? and also how did the rear end work? was it just constant a constant "1 wheel peel" ???

I'm curious to this as well, how do they handle with v6 suspension? I heard if you keep the v8 springs it lowers it 1/2 an inch.

Do you mean "...if you keep the V6 springs it lowers it..."?

yes Thats what I meant lol thank you I typed that on my phone, does the car handle ok on the v6 sway bars? I'm thinking of keeping stock v6 suspension till after I get my motor in and save more till I can sway to big sway bars and v8 springs.
Re: v8 swap shocks & springs
I have a manual trans and no a/c.
I have z28 sway bars on the car and it was a night and day difference in handling, i replaced all 4 sway bar links(only $22). When i was done it reduced body roll by about 55%.
For the rear sway bar I was concerned that I may have to drill holes for the mounts (my sport coupe didnt come with a rear sway bar) but I was pleasently suprised to find the holes were pre-drilled! Thought that tid-bit might help somebody

Re: v8 swap shocks & springs
iv got front and rear sway bars and 4 new links so the links are taken care of till they break or wear out. im worried about the v6 bars being too small for the bigger motor.
