I recently purchased a 1992 Camaro RS that originally had a 3.1 v6. The guy i bought it from had already installed a 305 out of a 1988 I-Rock Z.
Motor was installed nicely and looks good. The biggest problem I am having is that it wont crank over when you turn the key. He rigged the wiring by installing a on/off switch and tapping into the wiring harness. It will start and run but I want to fix it the right way

Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be the problem? The ECM is still in place and the distributor has been changed over. I have not pulled the ecm or anything but will if need be.

Sounds like a VATS issue. Go to the thirdgen.org homepage, look for links to tech articles on the left. There are a couple about VATS that should lead you down the right path.

Also when I turn the key nothing comes on. No gauges work, no key buzzer, or ac blower. The only thing that comes on is the radio.

 

Found my problem. It was the ignition switch. It was a pain in the wazoo but all is well.
