Not a firebird, but pointaic and sbc swap power steering hose question
Ok, So im taking over someones project thats on hold. Its a 70's pontiac ventura that had a v6. The v8 is alrady installed but the power steering pump wasnt hooked up. I mounted the pump, the pump has both hoses attached (with o-rings still attached), and the old hoses from the v6 are still attached to the steering column. SO! hoses are different. the old V6 power steering hose doesnt have the o-ring fitting. Havent pulled it off the column yet but i suspect that fitting wont have the o-ring either. If it doesn't, what do i do? Do i try and find a sbc power steering pressure hose that has the 0-ring for the pump and no o-ring for the column?

The best way if the V8 hose is long enough is to take both in to a hydraulic hose shop and explain what you need. Should be able to take the end fittings off and swap what you need with a new crimp connector. They might say they can do it only if you have the crimp connectors and end fittings off. A little time with a grinder and pliers and the fittings can be off without damaging the hose. Then more time to clean up or finish grinding to old crimp connector off.
Good Luck.
Good Luck.
