i just picked up my 91 rs camaro with a 305 for 4 grand. damn near perfect shape. i really want a 327 or a stroked 305... whats the best engines to start with for each build? i know vortec 350s are good, but is a vortec 327 good also?

The smaller the cubes, the worse the bang for the buck. It will cost you more to build a 334 than it will to build a 350, and it will perform much worse, especially considering the small bore size, which will seriously limit cylinder head selection.
Build a 350 or 383. Anything smaller is just a waste of money for the sake of "uniqueness".

Can't do a 383 as a Junkyard Jewel, but if you're gonna do a build, the same money is better spent on a 6.0 or turbo 4.8 than a 383. Still more cost than a JJ 350, but more results after the investment.
