older 350 swp water pump question
hi,i have 91firebird with 305 that i am swapping in an old '72 350 into. the 350 engine had the old seperate belts for alt, waterpump, steering,... ect and i put the newer serpentine belt systemon it from my car. it appers that the serpentine system turns the water pump the opposite direction then it did with its old setup. my question is is this ok or should i put the water pump from my old engine on it

Re: older 350 swp water pump question
Switch out to the pump from the 91 serpentine set up. You can't cool the engine if the pump is turning the wrong way. BTW - the 72 is the long water pump setup - it just turns the opposite way. The short water pump design is from early small blocks - 283, 327 etc.
