86 z28 350 swap
First and for most, greetings everyone. Recently I bought an 86 Z28. The guy I bought it from claims it has a 350 TPI. Although VIN says it has 305 TPI. Well it doesn't matter bc after the test drive we made a deal. He got my Bronco and I got his z28. Well after driving to Midas to get an oil change I come outside only to find steam billowing from under my bonnet. I turned car off and let it sit for 20 minutes and refilled the coolant. After stop and goes all the way to the interstate and steam slowly coming out from under hood I was hoping to get up to speed to help out the cooling. And at first it worked until 5 miles down the interstate and it began to slow down, made a loud pop and began to to knock extremely loud. By the time I came to a complete stop the car was dead. So two blown head gaskets later its time for a new motor. My friend has a friend who owns a machine shop in Hesperia, CA. He can get me a long block with roller cam for $1400 and claims 420hp. Now I'm new to GM small block performance but that sounds too good to be true. I will be keeping the TPI system and I recon ima be using 30ibs fuel injectors and an aftermarket fuel preassure regulator. However I have no idea what to use for the ECM. Can I use the stock ECM? Are 30ibs injectors big enough or too big? It has factory automatic trans as far as I know but it does shift extremely hard. And it will keep factory trans and rear for about another 6 months to a year where I plan to put a t56 trans and Idk what rear end yet. I have rear disk brakes too so Idk if I got the optional 3.73 rear end or not.
